The Transvaal lion (Panthera leo melanochaita) used to live in South Africa Republic. It occurred in the Transvaal region that is why the lion is known as such.
The overall body length of adult males is 2.6–3.2 m (8.5–10.5 ft). Females measure around 2.35–2.75 m (7.7–9.0 ft).
Similarly females average 110–182 kg (243–401 lb) in weight while males weigh 150–250 kg (330–550 lb). Transvaal lions can stand 0.92–1.23 m (3.0–4.0 ft).

Transvaal lion generally live in Kruger Park, Kalahari, southern Namibia, southeastern Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.
The lion makes home in semi-arid habitats including open grasslands and savanna.
Transvaal lion likes to eat large animals such as blue wildebeest, giraffes, buffaloes, gemsbok, impalas, Thomson’s gazelle, warthogs, kobs, and zebras.
