The bullet ant (Paraponera clavata) is famous for its powerful sting. It is found in Honduras and Paraguay. The bullet ant’s sting hurts so much—once bit it is extremely painful. It has probably got the world’s most painful sting of all insects.

Worker ants measure 18 – 33 mm in total length. The queen is only slightly bigger than worker ants. Bullet ants do not have wings.
